About East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation Housing

The East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation (ECKAN), a community action agency, has been in existence since 1966 serving low-income persons in Anderson, Coffey, Douglas, Franklin, Johnson, Lyon, Miami, Morris and Osage Counties.

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program offers rental assistance to low-income families, enabling them to obtain affordable, quality housing with private landlords. ECKAN's HCV and Section 8 Program was recently awarded as a High Performance Organization based on the Section 8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP) from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). SEMAP enables HUD to better manage the Section 8 tenant-based program by identifying Public Housing Agency’s (PHA) capabilities and deficiencies related to the administration of the Section 8 program.

The program is available in Anderson, Coffey, Franklin, Lyon, Miami and Osage Counties.
